April in Canada means one thing…NHL playoffs, that is unless you live in Toronto, where in February you start thinking which of the Maple Leafs will fill the roster for the World Championships, since their playoff dreams are usually dead mid-season. From April until June, just as the weather is starting to get nice, we Canadians will be hunkered down inside cheering wildly for our favorite teams. Nothing unites our country like hockey.
At the beginning of the playoffs there is an ubridled optimism, especially for all of us Canuck fans (this year). It could be the best chance our beloved Canucks have had to win Lord Stanley’s cup. As I was driving in to work today, the beginning of the playoffs got me thinking about a Tom Guskey presentation I saw. He talked about the value of getting students on winning streaks. If we can build on the positive and kids feel success, it feeds into more success. If the Canucks make the Stanely Cup finals, the entire province will be electric…there is no euphoria like a winning streak. Anyone in Canada remember Sydney Crosby scoring a little goal last year? If we can get our students on these streaks, they are empowered to learn and feel they can take on the world. What I am really trying to say is GO CANUCKS GO!
